Converting to '68+ steering shaft 120-130

Hello,

It might be possible to install the later upper steering column shaft without removing the tube, but I have always removed it.

I also suggest that you remove the steering box first as it will give you more maneuvering room in the engine compartment.

After removing the steering wheel, bezel pieces, and shifter parts, you can loosen the 2 clamp bolts under the dash to remove the tube.

You do not need to remove the shifter shaft, but you will need to removed the support cage along with the shifter handle.

P.S. This is the only good time to replace the foam steering column seal mounted under the dash at the firewall.
