Converting to '68+ steering shaft 120-130

Sounds like it's worth it to take the upper shaft section out first, measure it against the 68 one, and see how similar they are side by side before taking the upper tube out.

Is the firewall foam not "split" on one side to allow you to install it with the shaft in place? Seems like that'd be the logical way to do it?
