Bob, I think I understand without you needing to take the photo. I know it is really difficult to get a picture of those guts without removing the knob and cover. Last time I did that, I took these two shots of the solenoid plunger, without the yellow plastic releaser in the way.
The only difference between the pictures is the first one shows the shifter locked and the second one is taken with the solenoid energized (shift lock released). This is where you must have jammed something to hold it down, on the left side of the shifter. I guess I ought to mark up these images.
