Is it time to replace front strut coil spring 200

I am about to replace the front strut inserts of my son's 91 240. Is it a good time to replace the springs as well?

The ground clearance of the car is getting shorter over the years. The clearance to access the oil filter is pretty bad even with the engine mounts (Volvo brand) replaced last summer. Reading archived forum discussions, I learned that strut inserts do not change the height or clearance, only springs do.

If it is time to replace springs, is scan tech brand springs OK or I have to get Volvo ones?
