245 vs V70 in slippery roads

Just a guess -

What is the front tire size on each car?

I suspect that the 245 has a size that puts a smaller footprint on the road than does the V70.

The smaller footprint gives a higher number of pounds of car weight, (assuming the two vehicles are about the same weight) per square inch than does the larger footprint. This difference could be the reason the V70 "hunts" while the 245 sticks to the road.

That, and the overall tightness of the front suspension members. Also, a FWD vehicle is subject to the front wheel wanting to pull the car to one side.

Guesses only, perhaps someone who has the true facts will respond.

Good question, thanks.

Bob
