Hola JayT:
The symptoms you describe could also be due to a failed ignition amplifier. It is a small electrical unit on the inside of the fender (within the engine compartment) behind the air filter. I'll bet you can find one at the PickNPull (San Antonio's is great, as is Brownsville's, where I live). Replace it and the heat related problems should disappear. Ask me how I know.
