Speed bump bang

is the bang at the front or the back? If its the front, I'd worry about failing strut mounts. If its the back, I'd worry about failed rear trailing arm bushings. Failed shocks and struts don't bang, they squeak/creak.

My 240 wagon banged loudly in the rear over potholes and bumps when one of the rear trailing arm bushings had failed. Replaced the bushings (a hellish DIY project) and all is quiet and sturdy again.

The suggestion about checking the exhaust system is valid, too. Besides the rubber hangers for the mufflers, check whether the bolts have vibrated loose from the bracket which connects the downpipe to the bellhousing. Although loose exhaust typically shows itself by also vibrating obnoxiously on acceleration.
