Head Gasket Problem or Rings????? 700 1987

Fellow Bricksters,

We have a Volvo 740 Turbo with the B230FT. Over the last week we have not been able to drive it due to a severe miss all through the rev range. I thought it may have been spark plug leads or spark plug related but they are all fine.

However we then tried a compression test and we have found the issue. All cylinders bar the number "3" (from the firewall forward) are registering 150 psi. Number 3 registers 0 psi and noticing that the spark plug is quite oily compared to the others. Is this a sign of a blown head gasket or worn rings.

The car has always had a bit of piston slap and I am wondering if this is related. The car at present is undriveable and no matter what it will need the head taken off and inspected.

Just trying to get ahead of the issue with a bit of help from brickboard.

Thanks in advance.
