Headrest installation 120-130

I have a 1967 122S 4dr. sedan, the front seats are the reclining seats with the Recaro mechanism from a 1967 123GT. I would like to install headrests into these seats. As information I have gathered, all 1965 and later seats were "headrest ready". Can this be verified without taking the seat apart and the covers off ? In the meantime, I have purchased a set of used headrest from a 1968 122, and I purchased the headrest installation kit P/N672021S and new headrest covers from VP Autoparts. If the seats are "headrest ready", is installing the headrests a job that I can tackle myself, or do I need to take the seats to an auto upolstery shop ? Any help or suggestions whould be appreciated.
