Frost plug installation 120-130 1963

It sounds like you purchased a "cup" plug, whereas you need a "flat" plug for the Volvo engine. You should purchase a flat plug. Loss of the plug you've installed while driving will result in a catastrophic release of coolant.
The flat plug is "upset" once seated with a driver with a convex end - a 1/2 inch extension will do, if used correctly. Use Permatex hardening sealer on the counterbore in the block - don't use silicone.
Marine B18 and B20's used a stainless steel flat plug - a very nice part, lasts forever.
