Hello,
The deep sump pans are suggested for the overdrives a company name Gearvenders sells.
Gearvenders makes kits using J and P type Laycock overdrives to fit a large variety of vehicles from race cars to motor homes.
Although I did not see the car, a local restoration shop bought overdrive parts from us that went on a "divorced" J type overdrive and the deep sump would be a good option for one of those.
Divorced means that the overdrive, in this case, is not bolted to a transmission and has its own oil supply.
There are divorced transfer cases on some older 4 wheel drives.
Most divorced units have an input and output driveshaft.
I have heard there was at least one special overdrive, not a Laycock, that bolted directly to the pinion flange on a differential.
