Any Updates 200 1986

Yes, Goatman. Thanks for the reminder to give an update. Crazy week. You are right, Teflon tape is not a great idea. However, Loctite 567 works perfectly. It is designed for petroleum products under pressure, is a sealant, and certified for gasoline fittings. A little pricey and there may be other products more economical. I found it at Fastenal. No leaks now. I did not use it around the banjo fittings on the filter (must use new copper washers) but for both ends of the check valve between the actual pump and the little line over to the filter. This is where my leaks were occurring. Apparently a number of mechanics use the stuff for these type applications. I coated the threads only.

My problem now is the extremely noisy NEW in-tank pump. I am going to have to go back into the tank and pull it out and start over. Sounds like a bee hive with a queen bee in heat. Loud. I have used aftermarket pre-pumps before with no loudness like this. I wonder if I re-mounted the sender assembly back into the tank improperly (it was difficult) and it is resting against the tank somehow down in there. It sounds like the noise is amplified by the metal tank. Are you familiar with this? I guess it could be faulty pump, but not as likely. Anyway, will tackle that today or tomorrow.
