Sorry for the blank entry.
Your verdict seems a little harsh.
For my old Volvo, it would be hard to justify the cost I would expect for the work you describe. When I've recharged the refrigerant successfully in the past, when there was a small leak, why can't I do that with a new line? What happens to render the dryer ineffective after the system is open?
I am guessing replacement of the dryer by an AC certified mechanic is going to cost me several hundred dollars. Add in the pipe and its going to exceed $500. I have a parts car available, so I can swap a good line for the bad one.
But you say that is not going to work!
