I have a 59 544 that's been (at least partially) converted to 12V.
I am planning to retrofit GM HEI on it as shown:

My car is originally 6V, and doesn't seem to have a ballast resistor (12V to coil+ when key on). The car has one of the typical blue bosch coils. How do I confirm that it is for 12V? I thought I read that the resistance across the primary windings can be a tell-tale.
Car runs and drives great for the most part, but starts to run ragged on longer, more spirited, drives. I'm figuring points are getting burned and the condenser is overheating.
Research suggests that the GM HEI module is 12V in, so I'm okay there. Last question is - will the retrofit above take offense to an iffy condenser? I'm thinking "no" since the points become a switch only, and dwell doesn't matter any more.
