High side freon fill connector. Missing in action?

So is this admonition in the FAQ's irrelevant?
"DON'T try to charge without keeping track of the high side pressure".

The tech seemed to think little of the issue, proceeding to charge the system with the single port. It all ..has me/had me .. a bit concerned as the prior compressor failed because of being charged incorrectly...

and ..

the wife is telling me that it is still acting a bit oddly / differently, such as..
> no cold air from vents when stopped at a light for a prolonged time. This has happened a couple of times. When driven, all seems to be ok.
> aux fan is working, temp guage is staying centered ..but the fan does not seem to be needed to cool the engine any extra amount when it is shut down, as it has not continued running at all at shutdown that we have noted.

With the heat we have been having of late, I would think the fan would almost have to come on at shutdown to get the engine temps in line.

Normal ..not s much? Thanks for any info.
