problem solved 200 1989

Due to my infrequent maintenance routine , as i only drive a few thousand miles a year. I failed to notice the the positive battery clamp was corroded away to a sliver. After soldering on a new clamp and ordering a new cable all is right with the world. However , it has a noticeably rough idle but it does seem to drive just fine. Will the replacement of the battery cable likely solve this problem? or should i look elsewhere?
