air conditioning

Hi All,

I'm trying to get the AC working. Seem to be close but not quite and need some help.
The retrofitted AC had a leak initially. The lines were replaced; old orifice tube seemed good; put in some compressor oil (somewhat more then what came out); washed evaporator; changed o-rings; vacuumed for 1-2h and that held up for a day.
Put in 1 can of r134a. Initially the compressor was cycling on and off; the static pressure on the low side was 100-150psi and that got me worried but read that I should be looking at the pressure after full recharge. Put in 2 more cans and the low side pressure got to 50-60 psi with the compressor running. Now the compressor is always on. The low side lines are quite cool and sweating and there is quite cool air coming from the vents.
Is it normal for the compressor to be always on?
The condensor fan did not seem to run so I hot wired it and that got the low side pressure to 45-50psi. The compressor is still on all the time.
Any help would be appreciated. Outside temp with ~ 90F.
