I am not familiar with the Bentley manuals - use only green books.
I've installed hundreds of MC's, and they are simple to do. Bench bleeding is a good idea, but they can be bled on the car as well. Takes two people. Install, and tighten the lines. Fill the reservoir with clean DOT3 fluid. Gently and slowly depress the brake pedal, hold to floor, and then open the fluid connections for a moment and then close them. Release the pedal and repeat. Keep the fluid level up. When fluid comes out of the line connections without air in it, try the pedal for firmness with the lines tight. Once you have a good high pedal you can drive carefully. The system will bleed somewhat while driving, but you must have a safe pedal reserve before driving.
Don't bash the pedal up and down or you'll aerate the fluid. Work slowly when bleeding.
