I bent the F1 fuse holder to accept the longer ceramic fuses, which seems to work quite nicely.
I then took the OD switch out of the steering column, it looked good and switched off according to my multimeter. I wrapped the contacts with electrical tape to insure that one will never contact the steering wheel metal.
I looked everywhere and found nothing amiss. I connected the battery and turned the key to on. The oil light came on, the gas gauge showed gas. I turned the OD switch on and its light came on, and then turned off the OD. It all looked good.
I then pulled out the choke, pushed in the clutch, and hit the start button. After a 15 second crank, the engine started and the oil light went out. So did Fuse 1!!!
Replacing the fuse and turning the ignition to on immediately results in a POP and blown fuse.
EDIT EDIT EDIT
I have the OD unplugged at the fuse box. And that solved the F1 problem. So now, I am left with the 2 wires going to the OD in the engine compartment and a switch on the steering column. It must be time to crawl under the car and take a look at the OD end of the wires.
EDIT EDIT EDIT
I have 2 blown fuses, they are burned at the middle with blue metal on both sides of the break.
