Yes, I have seen one

I have seen it done, my old boss after highschool had a leather 240 seat on an office chair base. It was the most comfortable chair ever, should be an easy mount up if I had to guess. If the chair track doesn't line up with the chair base just make a 1/2 or 3/4 ply or solid wood base that bolts to the base and in turn the seat rails bolt to. I've been thinking of doing it to a spare 79 242gt seat I have that's a touch to beat up to put in a car.
