Thanks Phil and Art

I was surprised as anyone on this board that it was the main pump. But kids love to run the cars on empty and I've told both of them when the tank is on a 1/4 it's empty.. Anyway that said when I checked the fuel rely the female side connector had slightly melted plastic so I cleaned up the connector re-inserted the rely thinking that was the problem but looking at Art's post maybe that might a symptom of future failure.. The lean mix also is of concern but I don't know how to address that I do know what a rich plug looks like an a lean one and the where lean that's why it passed smog so easy...Hmmmmm I love these cars...
