I have had 2 240's lose spark due to corrosion of the fuse holder running to the coil. On the 240 it is mounted on a rail on the driver side of the engine compartment about halfway back. The hood on the 240 bowed in enough in both cases to let water in and corrode the fuse holder, even though the fuse was fine.
Took me a long time to figure it out the first time. Not sure if it is a similar setup on the 740, but probably worth a check.
