Mystery hose???

Mystery solved. I will try to get under there tonight and reconnect it. I
am not sure how long it has been disconnected. Hasn't been driven very much
under my watch but who knows how long it has been driven without the vent
connected by the previous owner. Is there anything I need to be worried
about or check to assure myself that this has not caused any long term
damage to the axle or differential?
