I have a passing knowledge of the A/C in my '93 240's, but until this year, I never had to pay it much attention. That was before one of the best mechanics I ever ran into and the owner of the only shop in my burg which I could trust freaked out and said, "Screw it!" Now, I am left to take care of everything 240 related, including the A/C.
The A/C in my son's car has queefed out; it is not blowing cold and there is a slight "chirp" whenever the compressor cycles on. About 2 years ago, the system was serviced by my former mechanic. At the time, it did not need anything, but it was sucked down, recharged and dye added to check for leaks as a precaution before a cross-country trip to Nevada in August.
I understand that there is no high side service port on the '93 A/C, so, where should I start my seek and destroy mission?
Thanks, one and all,
Rich
