Been a while, but here's what I remember:

On my 69, the stalk to the right is for OD. Doesn't really stick in any position. Pull towards me (maybe a little up) and it turns on. Do it again to turn off.

Should not be absolutely stiff, but doesn't "stick or click" into a position.
