I don't know what the max HP a standard clutch will hold, so can't help with that question.
I had the local "friction specialist" shop here in Portland (Ott's, it's called) reline a used disk with an improved material that's used for high torque applications. It was about $100. That disk, with a stock cover, just does not slip. It's exactly what I wanted. Nice smooth engagement, too.
I use it behind a supercharged B20, which produces quite a bit more horsepower and torque than a stock engine.
