ANSWER If you do replace the amplifier .... 200 1991

I can't comment on whether your ignition amplifier is faulty, but if you do go ahead and replace it, be sure to coat the bottom with heat-conductive grease -- the amplifier produces a LOT of heat and it must be cooled by transfering that heat to the car's sheet metal which serves as a radiator. The grease, or paste, facilitates that transfer or conduction. If you don't use the grease, the new amplifier will quickly overheat and fail.
