Whithout tearing apart the wiper motor and playing around with the park positions, you are in the ballpark as of right now. I also dislike the high park position and found that moving the blades to compensate caused the blade to slap at the bottom and not go far enough at the upswing.

If they work, I suggest leaving them alone. Except, use aluminum polish and brighten the arms up a little.
