Engine Upgrade Options 120-130

The OHC motors look larger, but they aren't particularly that much larger. The cam takes up pretty much the same room as the valve cover does on an OHV motor.

The only slight issue is that anything other than a B20 won't simply bolt straight in. You get into the slightly murkier world of fabbing parts for a motor swap. An OHV (B21/23/230) motor does have the advantage of bolting up to your existing transmission, but you still have to make some custom motor mounts (I think Yoshifab makes some OHV/OHC motor mount adapters) and convert the motor to upright life with a B18/20 oil pan and a modified oil pump pickup.

If you want to stick with an easy bolt in B20, you can bump up the torque by rebuilding a B20 using B21 pistons. The vast majority of blocks have plenty of metal in the bores for the ~3mm overbore, although in rare cases core shift or voids in the casting may cause issues. The increased displacement won't really make much more peak HP without supporting modifications to accompany (like head work and cam), but it will increase low end RPM even with everything still stock. Maybe use a lower RPM torquer cam like an Isky VV61, and you should get a very noticeable increase in grunt from your B18.
