master cylinder ? 120-130 1967

I haven't installed one yet. I got out the parts this weekend from the garage and compared them. All the rubber is identical. The two aluminum pistons have slight dimensional differences between the old parts and the 140 rebuild kit parts. the front piston has a rod protruding forward to stop piston travel. In the 140 kit, the rod is about 1/8 inch longer. The rear piston has a conical depression in the back to interface with the push rod coming from the brake pedal. in the 140 kit this depression is a hole. the Wagner M/C has a captive push rod assembly where the end of the push rod with a round end and flange are inside the washer and cir clip that holds the whole thing together. The push rod end looks like it would fit in the end of the 140 piston, but I am not sure if all the parts would align exactly the same. I plan on using the original pistons as they are in excellent condition.

The odd thing about this M/C is an annular channel cut inside the bore half way down. this is line up with the rear output fitting. You can see a corresponding thicker ring in the casting on the outside. I don't understand its purpose, but the re-sleeving on mine has removed it. I would think it might be difficult to get the new rubber past this channel without causing damage. I guess I will find out when I rebuild the M/C that is in the car right now.

I got both rebuild kits a while ago on eBay at a great price and couldn't pass it up. From the photo I could see the parts looked identical.

Hope this helps,

Michael Jensen
