I rarely use injector cleaner - only if my mileage drops or I have a reason to.
I've used seafoam twice- once, it made a big difference on a car with a bad AMM - the car dumped more than a few tablespoons of soot on the ground. The other time, nothing much seemed to happen. These were done with distilled water and seafoam pulled in through a vacuum line.
Generally, I just try to use quality oil, fuel, etc. I might put fuel injector cleaner (techron or seafoam if I intend to put it in the intake) in the gas 1-4 times a year. More with more driving.
I played around with octane booster and fuel injector cleaner as a kid, but it never seemed to be useful.
