Weird....same problems with Big Lucy (my '85 245) this morning.

Sunday afternoon I removed the rear muffler (rusted with some small holes) and was going to replace with a newer one from the salvage yard (the new one still has stickers on it so it wasn't run too much). Yesterday I stopped by a muffler shop to see if he would flare a scrap piece for me...said he would weld it on for $5 bucks. Was going to drive to work this morning, then swing by this afternoon to get him to weld the muffler on.

Got in the car this morning and started her up to a rough idle. She smoothed out after about a minute. Tried to get her out of the driveway and onto the road but she wouldn't accelerate....sputtering, no acceleration, nothing, especially under load. I could rev her with minimal sputtering but with a load (in gear) she was bad.

I did notice the gas gauge was bottomed out...no movement. No other gauge lights wee on.

Sounds like I may be in the same boat (rubber hose to sender). I also have to crank Big Lucy for 5-10 seconds to get her to start up...may be time for a fuel pump or pressure regulator too.

Do you guys think I'm headed in the right direction? Fuel pump/regulator/pipe to sender?

Thanks!

Chris
