Only one example but... 200 1990

...my son's '92 940 had a ZF (stamped on rack) with CAM-type boots that fit directly onto the tie rod.

When ordering a replacement rack, I assumed the CAM-like boots meant it was a Koyo like my '93. The phone lady at Jorgen was sure it wasn't a Koyo, but humored me and set us one anyhow. She was right, but read on.

We installed the Koyo with no problems until time to connect the pressure and return hoses. Turns out those 2 line fittings (2 different sizes) were in opposite positions (old rack vs Koyo).

Taking a belatedly closer look at the old rack, the ZF labeling on the center part was obvious. With some inspired end-bending, the ZF hoses got fitted to the Koyo rack — and I learned 2 things about steering racks:

1) Don't rely on the small end of the boot for rack ID.

2) Listen to the Jorgen lady.
