It is a lot like a big flare fitting at the end of one of your brake lines.
I guess I have an advantage having had a 164 during most of the time I had 122s!
The later models have the same nut and hole in the head but the sender is electric
with a wire you can disconnect, so you can unscrew the whole thing together.
The thread is the same as a 3" flare tubing fitting.
