Check the panel where the cable comes through the firewall. That panel is notorious for cracking where the cable passes through and then flexing when the clutch pedal is depressed. If that is the problem fixing it will require removing the cable and then welding the panel--and/or adding washers to strengthen the area. Have an assistant push the clutch pedal while you observe from inside the engine compartment. -- Dave
