Years ago a fellow told me that pickup trucks are like refrigerators. Once you have one, you never want to be without one.
So you've never had a pick up truck, which will do all you ask of it. Now you want to achieve a goal that isn't related to your need for a pick up and that's to have one that Volvo built. You have to figure out which is more important.
Dodge Dakotas are a great size, not too big, not too small. The iron 318 is called a 5.2 Magnum and they are one tough engine. So late 90's would be the range. They steer better than a 240, have less drivetrain vibration than just about any Volvo ever. Nice brakes too. Parts areā¦.relatively cheap.
So once you figure out the goal, and land on the idea of a pick up, drive a Dakota.
Toyota trucks are the best, but you can have three Dakotas for the price of one Yota.
The Euroweenies drive big cube van like things, like Sprinters. Only the Aussies figured it out, and they make flat deck pick ups.
