So are you saying if you pull the switch on the right side of your car (psg) the two black leads connected to the same terminal on the switch lead upward in the A pillar and not down toward the floor? The place I recall seeing that black wire was behind the panel where the idle controller would be on a k-jet (turbo) or the LH fuel computer on the NA 242. Down below. Can't say I wasn't looking at a 244 though, where the wire splits off toward the right rear door switch.
