Well, the 164 does have en external regulator which was not affected. I changed the alternator itself with another used one which did shut off the AMP light but it was not charging so no luck there--I guess I'll have to go new or rebuilt. Anybody know anything about sourcing rebuild kits for this thing? The 140s apparently use the same alternator.
