If using a motor from a 700/900 be sure the auxiliary shaft in the bad motor is usable. I just went through this - fitting a low mileage 740NA motor into a '93 244. The blown up 244 motor broke the aux. shaft into three pieces--needed because the 700/900 motor may not have the gear drive for the front mounted distributor of the 244. It took me a while to get hold of a usable shaft.
Also--be careful not to cross up round tooth and square tooth gear drives. -- Dave
