Thank you for the detailed reply!

I have ordered a functional used EGR Valve ($45) and an EGR Vacuum Controller ($33) and plan to remove the system, clean the pipes, replace it with the new (used) parts and go from there. I'll post an update to this thread once I have completed those steps. (If it turns out I don't need the new (used) parts, I'll sell them online. I've learned it is sometimes best to have more parts than what you think you might need when completing a job.)
