Before replacing I would check the wiring at the base of the distributor going to the hall sensor. They have been known to wear, chaff then short against the distributor housing. Or the plastic piece that the wires run into gets brittle and cracks/breaks. You can buy just the plastic piece cheap but removal of distributor is a must to replace it.
