Floating Timing 444-544

Check that the advance retard system is working as it should. If you give the rotor a twist it should spring back instantly. They can get gummed or rusted up and stick on full advance. Springs can also break or come adrift. There is a drain hole in the bottom of the distributor body so if you don't want to take the whole thing off for servicing you can spray clean it down and then re oil. Depends on how bad it is. Oil the felt pad under the rotor and the side oiler (twist to open the oil hole).
If nothing has changed with the timing it should run the same as in the 144.
