Wire Termination Illustrated Article

It was just amazing to see that wall space devoted to crimp tools! Reminded me of my oil filter wrench collection, which all remains rather dormant now that I just have Volvos and screw on the filters by hand!

Kudos to Zach for posting this most interesting topic.

As for discussion, I could go on at least as long as he did on crimping, as a result of friendship with a cable maker and various manufacturing engineering assignments over the years. End result, for car stuff, is I'm partial to the indent-U crimp, which he refers to as a dimpler. He's right, it isn't for insulated connectors, but I tend to prefer the two steps of using uninsulated connectors and covering them in a second step with shrink sleeve. And as for the dimpler dividing the join in the barrel, well, he's doing it backward if he does, and so he says. Not sure that's the way boat owners want to do things, but I'm not one.

I'll save the crimper photos for later. This is more interesting:
