that is strange...don't really know why it wouldn't work . I run an 1965 over bored B18 with SUs no problem....can't see how the 6 cyl would be different.(bad black box? pretty sure the box is the same for 6 or 4,
bad coil? ( did you use a newer coil?)
Anyhow hold on to that dizzy, cause if you ever get it working it should be reliable (or another 164 owner will want it).
