Thank you, I looked up the info in the FAQ, it is indeed useful. I checked with Jim Ellis Volvo (Marietta, GA) some time ago, no that's just catalog not updated, these parts seem nowhere to be found (unless somebody out there has old stock). It's kind of unfortunate that Volvo had such brilliant designs for some of their cars components, while other parts (mostly sourced from somewhere else it seems) were clearly not designed to have a very long lifespan or be easily serviceable. My ECC unit has a sticker "Delphi, Made in France", wonder if this kind of unit was used on any European car models that didn't make it to the North American market? (Hoping that somebody still manufactures them for some other car maker...)
