Hi Marty,
Happy Sat-Your-Day! Or, if you like cats, Happy Caturday!
The 1992 Volvo 740 uses the 9004 bulb like the 1986+ US DOT big square headlight.
In my grey 1991 240, I have regular Sylvania Silver Star bulbs. Now more than a decade old. They seem to do okay, in spite of the goofy US-DOT plastic 240 headlamp casted beam pattern.
FCP Euro, closer to you in NJ-state, offers these three 9004 bulbs. To are Hella and one is made by Flosser.
Volvo 740 Headlight Bulb Parts - page 1 - https://www.fcpeuro.com/Volvo-parts/740/Headlight-Bulb?year=1992&e=914&m=20&page=1
The FCP Euro .com URL defines year, make, and model.
The two Hella bulbs are made in South Korea. The Flosser bulb is made in Germany.
Else, I'm sure other will proffer up their experiences with quality head light bulbs for your 1992 Volvo 740. Some may suggest alternate lighting like HID or LED methods.
Hope that helps.
My Volvo 240s have fleas.
