Hello,
Thingy 1 - is a spike suppression diode. It is to eliminate the potentially damaging voltage spikes that occur each time power is removed from the clutch's coil. If there was no diode in the circuit, these voltage spikes could travel through the circuit, possibly damaging other components and at the very least, introducing "noise" into the vehicle's electrical system.
Thingy 2 - is a bi-metallic thermal switch. It is to cut power to the clutch's coil when the compressor case becomes too hot.
Regards,
Amarin.
