Someone might have a mirror where the base is OK but the silvering on the mirror has gone bad. Worth a shout I'd say. Yes, the small eye for the spring is prone to failure along with rust out of the spring itself.
Eric's post crossed mine. The type with the studs has the arm at the front of the base. This type does allow the quarterlight window to reverse for some cheap AC.
