140 gas gauge 140-160 1968

Hi Jerry,

I don't have any info about the 140, Maybe you can provide a schematic?
You should have a "sender unit" at the tank usually a variable resistor
and a ground at the tank.

How many wires to the meter, two or three?

I'd start by checking the wires to the meter, the +12VDC, the ground,
and the wire from the sender that shows a resistance to ground.
There's a series resistor in the tank that can go open, check it with your ohmmeter to ground. You want to see a resistance, not an open circuit.
