thank you to everyone who has responded to my earlier winter handling post. As i suspected it seems most others have had reasonable succes with the 240 as a winter car. hopefully i will to as am thinking that snow tires should solve much of the problem, but there is something else i've noticed. most of the responses speaking highly of the 240 were from people with wagons, mine is a sedan. how much of an inherent advantage does the wagon have over the sedan if any? has anyone had experience with both?
i'm thinking the bridestone blizzaks (as i've always had good luck with the many sets of potenzas i've had) and the leftover bundle of roofing shingles (about 80 pounds) will be the next course of action. as for comparing it to 4X4's i guess we will have to wait until the snow flies again, (which won't be long) as my other "car" is a Jeep grand cherokee - which does go through anything. however it would be nice to be able to drive the brick in the winter too ( it uses less gas than the grand cherokee and has heated seats ) i just wanted to be sure winter capability could be attained before i start putting money into snow tires as i plan to replace the sedan with a wagon next spring and already have one very capable winter vehicle. as for all the 4X4's in the ditch that have been mentioned, over confident idiots with no sense of vehicle dynamics i think would be the best explanation.
